It Ends

It has been good my dear reader. Countless moments shared from me to you, for you were the inferior of this relationship. And this is why it must come to an end. With the semester at its end and my unwillingness to write over the break, our relationship crumbles. You can not keep it going, dear reader, it is just out of yours hands. So for the next 2 weeks or so, do not check this. The disappointment in seeing no new posts will kill you inside every time, and two weeks without me could send the most prosperous life into a downward spiral. But do not fret dear dear, I will be back. Re-energized, revitalized, re- really everything to be honest. The semester has made me weary and the break is a much needed rest to your overworked messiah. So I bid you well and hope my absence does not ruin your life.

The Road Less Traveled

As you know, instead of doing the daily work for computer applications, I have been doing as computer recycling and refurbishing project. I am going to be honest, when we first started, it was just to get out of work. I did not really see the purpose of making old computers usable. Well, what a fool I was. We started with the appearance stuff, making a logo, making a wiki, making a blog, making a pamphlet, which really did not make me feel differently about computer recycling. However our project really began when we went to Goodwill. We spent three hours just learning about computers there are it was critical in our project as well as my understanding of it. I realized how old and broken down computers really can be fixed up into working, and working well at that, which can be a very important resource to some. Recently we broke down a computer in class and have researched individually all the things in each part that can be toxic. The moral side of giving computers to those without them is enough to make the project worthwhile, but so is the environmental side that computers are mother earth's kryptonite. Also, lately we have been planning our new plan of attack towards computerless homes. Instead of setting up shop at McCallum, we are trying to strike a deal with Goodwill that gives them our time, and computers, and in return we get a percentage of the computers we helped refurbish directly back to the McCallum community. We have had to plan ways to find those that need to get computers, how to get computers to them, and what Goodwill needs from us. All this planning has taken up our time recently. To actually have sometihng to show, we are in the process of using a computer we took apart, to make a display pointing out each toxic thing in each part, which we will use for presentations of why our project is important.
This whole thing really has made me realize the environmental and personal issues that our project and computer recycling and refurbishing on a whole can solve. In today's world, our planet really does need all the help it can get and the electronics that have the potential to be pollutants are just to much for our poor planet to bear. Also, my daily life would be far harder without a computer and I learned how much a difference can be made even with just us couple kids getting computers refurbished and donated to local families. On the technical side I have learned how to take apart a computer into individual parts, I know what all the parts now are and what they do. I know how to run diagnostics on the parts to see if they work, and with all the pieces, I could build the computer back up into working shape. I know this is long, but this project has just been very substantial to me. The tek that is the most fitting for this project would be 2. Big Trouble in Little China

My writing recently has been mediocre at best. I am not sure how to get out of this funk, but I will keep my writing short to save you from the horror of reading my insignificant words. Returning to a Previous Point

I am going to return to a theme previously written about. A couple of days ago I mentioned how asking somebody about character is not a good way at all to find out about their character. This blog is my thoughts straight to writing, after writing that I had a conversation about it. It just strengthened my opinion that receiving the perfect answer on why someone should be respectful, does not mean that person is respectful. The reason for this is, the people who do not have qualities, are given lectures on those qualities the most. The kid in school who is thew least accepting is the one that gets a talking to about why he should be accepting the most. Now when you ask him why being accepting is important, he will just feed you everything he was told from the ample times he was punished for it. Has he learned? No, its just too easy to lie about character questions. If you read this and disagree, please prove me wrong. The tek that applies is 15. (B) use binary and hexadecimal numbering systems.

Computer Carnage

After going to Goodwill Computer Works this weekend (read about it in the McCallum Computer blog) I have had a craving for taking computers apart. This was fulfilled today when we pillaged the school for obsolete computers. We got both a mac and a pc and tore them each a new one. We are creating a display with the stripped parts showing what is toxic in each single part of the computer. It should be pretty cool. Stay posted to see our progress. The teks that applies is 2. The Bear Man of Kamchatka

This weekend I watched a feature on animal planet called The Bear Man of Kamchatka. The bear man's belief was that bears were not aggressive at birth and if you cared for them before they thought humans were dangerous, then you could befriend them. This guy had two bears and they were like pet dogs for him. It was nuts. So now my Christmas list is simple. All I want is a bear cub. I will raise it and it will be peaceful, but it will be the ultimate watch dog. I would leave all windows and doors of my house open all the time with expensive things in sight, and just dare people to break in. But who is going to break into a house with a bear in it? No one.
One problem with The Bear Man of Kamchatka is that the show is probably dangerous to many people. People are going to watch it, think they can get along with bears, and then get mauled. I am not foolish enough, but I personally do not have to much faith in the human race, so I bet bear induced deaths have increased ten fold since it was first seen. The tek that applies is 10. Spluch

If you read blogs, read spluch. I debate daily whether or not it is honest, but it never ceases to amaze me. The writing does not even need to be quality, the topics are so far out there, that usually the pictures alone make my day. It is the exact contrast to this blog. Will I usually talk about nothing, I woo you with my wit and control of the English language, spluch uses interesting topics and no more to enhance my day, everyday. If you want to live a full life, I suggest you give it a shot. The tek that applies is 3. (B) use desktop-publishing software to create a newsletter. A Word to the Wise

A word of advice, if you want to find out about someones character, do not ask them a question that gets the theme of a Disney movie as a response. Asking somebody why it is important to accept everybody or why respect is so important will never get a good answer. Nobody will ever say you should not accept people, even if they don't. They will feed you a theme about how Aladdin was poor and then became king so all people can achieve great things, but they do not really care about accepting anyone. Asking questions about character get answers of all the things we have been told to be, not what we actually are. Now you know the way the world works. Your welcome. The teks that applies is 3. College

Today i successfully finished my application to Boston University. Nothing is more stressful and time consuming than applying to college. The flip side, is that nothing is more gratifying and stress reliving then finishing a college application. So I usually blog in the last 10 minutes of class, but lately I have not been able to think of what to write about. In the time it takes me to think, I run out of time to write. A Case of the Mondays

I have serious case of the Mondays. I had a lacrosse tournament this weekend and am far to tired to be in school today.
